Hugh Hefner Welcomes You

Hugh Hefner, the legendary roué and founder of PLAYBOY Magazine, is featured in a 21-second video in which he introduces Playboy's new "safe for work" Web site called "The Smoking Jacket."
The 84-year-old Hefner,true religion Nathan who goes by the diminutive "Hef" to all his friends (which includes anyone with eyes), announced with a wry grin that The Smoking Jacket is "PLAYBOY's new safe for work web site. Next to the
Mansion it's the best hangout on the planet."
PLAYBOY Magazine and later, Hef's reality shows, used the Playboy Mansion in Chicago and Los Angeles as a background highlighting his sybaritic lifestyle, the Playboy ideal. In the 1970s, Hefner tried to take a tax break for the expenses running the L.A. Playboy pad as he used it so extensively in his "businesss." He was denied by the IRS.
Hef currently is involved in anattempt to buy up the outstanding shares of Playboy Enterprises, PLAYBOY Magazine's parent company.Cheap ugg boots He intends to take the company private.
Some stock analysts are wary, wondering why Hefner would want to expend his capital to take private a company whose flagship, PLAYBOY Magazine, is in the dying print medium. Circulation and advertising revenues are off since the heyday of PLAYBOY, in which its September 1972 issue sold a record seven million copies at a buck a piece (about five dollars at today's prices). It now sells about 2.6 million copies a month, buy tiffany jewellery both on the newsstand and via subscription.
However, Playboy Enterprises must have some residual value as rival Penthouse has said it will make an offer for the company. While the magazine may be a relic of the past, the Playboy brand is extremely strong. The Smoking Jacket is an attempt to capitalize on that brand equity.
