Series spotlights Cleveland's Rainbow

The neonatal intensive care unit at University Hospitals' Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital gets an ongoing national spotlight in the new Discovery Health documentary series, "NICU." The cable show goes behind the scenes at three top neonatal intensive care units: Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, UC San Diego Medical Center and Cleveland's Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.

The 10-episode series, which premiered Cheap ugg boots Thursday, July 15, presents the real-life drama of babies born under extraordinary circumstances. The program's first visit to Cleveland is in the episode premiering at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 29.

Executive producer Lynn Sadofsky's "NICU" cameras follow Jonathan Fanaroff, the doctor who leads Rainbow's NICU team, who true religion Nathan guides viewers through the Rainbow halls. About 12 patients at Rainbow are profiled during the Discovery Health's program's first season.

"Each year in the United States, more than 500,000 babies are born preterm -- one in eight babies born too soon," says the Discovery Health description of the series. "Most of these babies will end up in a neonatal intensive care buy tiffany jewellery unit (NICU) for the first part of their fragile lives -- but even some babies who survive an early birth will continue to face lifelong health challenges."
