Ugg boots unsuitable in the Lake District’

Lake District accommodation guests have been urged to wear practical footwear if they intend to spend their time hiking.

North West Air Ambulance has stressed that walkers need to take more care after people have been spotted trekking through the region adorned in fashion wear such as Ugg boots or flip-flops.

Chief executive Lynda Brislin told ugg boot the Westmorland Gazette that these boots are simply not suitable to be worn for this type of activity.

"Ugg boots may be practical for flat ground but not for the fells," Ms Brislin explained. "They don’t have good grip on the soles like walking boots and some are not waterproof."

Her comments were backed up true religion Unterhose by Ugg’s UK brand director Robert Birrell, who said the footwear is designed for luxury rather than technical performance.

Lake District National Park has previously warned that trainers should not be worn for walking, as they do not provide ankle support and are liable to slip.
